The south west coast of the little peninsula known as Toe Head and Gob an Tobha in Gaelic (Rope Point, where gob means  a beak-shaped headland) is peppered with small beaches until the underlying rock displace everything.  The point is the last piece of land ahead of 45 miles of open sea until St Kilda – something satisfyingly solid before the fathomless depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
