North Harris is the most mountainous area of the island. The road to Amhuinnsuidhe Castle and Huisinis takes you past the roots of these mountains but you often don’t get a feel for their sheer size, the tallest of which is the Clisham at 2,622 feet. So, one of the best places to appreciate this wild grandeur is from the beach at Luskentyre. Looking past the north western end of Taransay, you get a true sense of the extraordinary forces that moulded this landscape.
