Where my folks come from on the West Highland coast, most of the old sheds have been knocked down and the stone reused in newer buildings. Imagine my delight when we first visited Harris to find so many of the old sheds not only still standing but still in use as well. Every single one has a character of its own. There was no grand design here nor planning regulations to restrict the imagination. And I’ve always loved the bright pop of colour on a door or a window frame where the very last drop of a pot of paint has been used. No wastage here.
