The local rules for setting up a gallery in a residential property state that it must be no larger than a particular size and must only display work created by the owners. Rather than perceive this as an obstacle, we set about making a virtue out of a constraint. The painting side of things was already taken care of. So, what to do about offering a range of pretty things to complement the pictures and greetings cards? In the end, the issue wasn’t a shortage of ideas – it was which ones to take forward.
So, we have a whole host of pretty things for sale in the gallery: hand-painted silk scarves and brooches; things made from the driftwood that washes up on our beach; unique handmade notebooks with decorated pages and covers and endpapers not available anywhere else on the planet; and stud earrings made from those precious little gems of sea glass that wink out of the sand after a storm, to name just some of the treasure on offer. All handmade by us, of course.
We don’t sell pretty things online (because everything is a one-off) but if you see something you really like, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to get things sorted out for you.
