Description

Once the school holidays begin, and sometimes well before, the beach at Dalbeg begins to fill up with families looking for a day at the seaside. They don’t come for a tan although, like today, there’s often plenty of sun around. They don’t come for ice cream or ride at the funfair. They come for the joy of being in a wild place, and the simple pleasures that have been enjoyed for millennia: building castles in the sand, damming the burn, jumping over the waves, trying (and failing) to avoid getting wet whilst fully clothed. The car park can only hold perhaps 10 cars. So, the beach is never busy. We have all our windows open and just love the noises of little people having a great time. Happy days!
