Description

Sheep holes are relatively commonplace in many parts of the United Kingdom.  However, this is the only one I have come across in all my walking on Lewis and Harris.  For the uninitiated, the gap in the stone wall allows the sheep to wander freely between the two fields but keeps the cattle firmly penned on one side.  This beautiful sheep hole is on Croft 6 just above the loch at Dalbeg on the west coast of Lewis.
