I’m not sure what a dedicated conservationist might say but I love the fact that you can get right in amongst the stones at Calanais. There is a polite little sign that encourages visitors to keep to the paths; however, it is equally politely ignored by the majority of people who come to get up close and personal with the stones. I’m certain that everyone treats the location with respect and care – so I hope that damage is minimal and that generations to come will enjoy the same access.
