Description

For a number of weeks in late May and early June, the weather was unseasonably cold and wild: gale-force winds, torrential rain, and awesome waves breaking over the top of the stac. By mid-June, the elements seemed to have returned to their natural equilibrium: winds turned into breezes, rain into light showers, and waves into ripples. However, the beach was substantially changed. Enormous, polished boulders of Lewisian Gneiss, and a myriad of their smaller cousins, were laid bare, the sand levelled so that shallow pools appeared at low tide. I suspect we’re just waiting for the next big storms to bring further change.
