Description

Watching the Dalbeg car park, you might think that visitors were: out for a day on the beach; grabbing another Lewis location with the click of a selfie; or taking their dog for a walk. However, look a little longer and you’ll see there are other communities in attendance. One such coterie are the climbers. They linger longer at the boots of their cars or, more often, the back doors of their vans, collecting the accoutrements of their trade, before heading up the hill in search of the countless sea cliff pitches nearby. First up gets to name the route: ‘A Prophet’s Doom’, ‘Beam Me Up Scotty’, ‘Prawn in the USA’, ‘Limpet Olympics’, ‘Ruth’s Lazy Day’. Looking down from the top, I suspect the days are anything but lazy.
