Description

The beach behind school at Seilebost is like the Roman god Janus – it points two ways at once. One side faces north west across the water to the island of Taransay. The other looks east towards a broad expanse of sand where you will often find cockle pickers when the tide is low. The colours are in a state of constant flux as the tide ebbs and flows. The way the paint travels across the silk seems to emulate this movement, the outcome always uncertain.
