Description

Natural stone arches are truly magical places. It’s mind-boggling to think that the spectacular and constant force of the waves racing in from the North Atlantic has, over the millennia, literally punched a hole in the cliff bulwarks that line the west coast of the Isle of Lewis.  Aird Bhianais is about 25 minutes north of the bay at Dalbeg. If you’re fortunate, you can sit on the rocks in the foreground of this watercolour and the fulmars will come to visit. Their interest is generally temporary. Once they have confirmed the absence of threat, they continue wheeling and gliding amongst the thermals rising up from the sea.
