Description

Most of the rocks along the coast of Harris are rough and decorated in all manner of lichens. Not so this group of rocks which are formed from a different material entirely. It is a basaltic dyke, formed when magma from the depths of the earth poured up through a crack in the surrounding rocks. This group of rocks has been worn smooth by millennia of the tumultuous seas. They are a beautiful warm grey when dry and, when wet, the matt black that is mirrored in the moonless Harris night sky. Two thin veins of rose quartz strike a pose, like a catwalk model at a photo shoot.
