On a gentle day, like today, Dalbeg bay is a very different proposition to the wilder days in autumn and winter. The sea is almost flat calm, there’s barely a whiff of a breeze, the scent of wild roses fills the air, the cuckoo’s call fills the glen, and the tide rises and falls without any fanfare, the darker margin left by receding waves the only clue that the eternal battle between the flood and ebb tides is, at this moment, favouring the latter.
