It’s almost impossible to get a real idea of scale in the absence of a datum. Look into the night sky on Harris and you will see the constellations more clearly than almost anywhere else in the United Kingdom. But try and gauge the size of any specific star and you will certainly fail. Similarly, stare out into the wide blue Atlantic Ocean from West Harris. You just can’t fathom the enormity of it all. It’s just too far and away.
