No matter how many times you walk over to the cliffs above the Bay of Whales, you get a different view of the waves as they break over the skerries below. There is a tendency to think of the sea as a monolith – it’s so huge and indomitable and inscrutable. However, on a smaller scale, everything is in constant motion, the colours and forms continually morphing into new and wonderful configurations. Some people look at the clouds and see all manner of contrivances; others look to the maelstrom below.
