Description

I know that most people are drawn to the huge expanses of sand at Scarista but it’s the outcrop of rocks at the northerly end of the beach that calls to me. It’s not just the contrast of the weathered rocks and the golden sand. It’s that, if you look closely in some of the nooks and crannies, you will find wonderful smoothed stones embedded with garnets. To the uninitiated, the gemstones look like little more than a scattering of deep ruby red smudges. However, to the little boy in me that spent entire summers scouring beaches, they are treasure worth hunting for!
