Description

When the archaeologist came to do a survey of Croft 6, to the south of the beach at Dalbeg, she said with complete certainty that people had been living there for 9,000 years. Shelter from the prevailing South Westerly, fresh water in the loch and easy access to the sea from a protected cove were all key conditions for selecting a dwelling place. It made me wonder what those Mesolithic people would have made of this natural stone arch. Almost certainly by Stone Age times, people had strong beliefs about portals to another realm of existence. And walking through the arch is an other-worldly experience, even today.
