Description

When we assumed the stewardship of Croft 6, Dalbeg, the ruins were just that: ruins. Much of the stonework in the whitehouse ruin had fallen into the interior space; so much so that the stone was piled to a point above the lintel. Another one of what Les called my folly projects was to clear out the fallen stone, so that I could use it to build a jetty into the loch. I first found a fireplace at the other gable. Imagine my excitement when the old range began to materialise at this end. The space to the left of the range was clearly the larder, because I found old jars and a half-consumed bottle of whisky there! Local legend has it that the whitehouse was never inhabited. The range and the whiskey say otherwise.
