Description

Most people that visit the Beach House Gallery make a bee-line for the big window that looks directly west over the bay at Dalbeg. Some days, the sea is like the sleeping giant from fairy tales of old: a seemingly motionless expanse of greens, blues, green blues and blue greens, the kind of image that might adorn a wall in a doctor’s waiting room, exhorting the value of being calm. On other days, the giant awakens and the greens and blues are shot with boiling and roiling streaks of foam dancing to a roaring soundtrack at full volume. The waves, sometimes 10 metres high, crash over the top of the stac at the bay’s southern corner. On these days, visitors spend more time looking out the window than at the pretty things for sale. And that is exactly as it should be!
