If I had to select a single image that captures the essence of the west coast of Harris, it would be this one. With even a passing knowledge of the island, it is instantly recognisable. Taransay in the background. The deep blue of the distant sea and the vibrant turquoise of the shallower water. The white horses on the waves as they weave in and out of the offshore reefs. The rocky margin, complete with tidemarks. And the impossible lilac of the wet sand. Quintessentially Harris!
