This pretty little beach stands on the Atlantic side of Little Bernera. For many years, we had wanted to visit this stunning little island. The opportunity arose when my sister, Sue, came to stay. We phoned a lovely man called Neil who lives on Great Bernera and has worked the waters around these islands for many, many years. He was a brilliant tour guide, regaling us with all sorts of stories about the nooks and crannies we passed on our trip. And he confirmed that this is indeed one of the Queen’s favourite picnic spots. She used to ‘park’ Britannia in the bay and come ashore in a smaller boat, safe from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.
